I suggest reading through this entire comparison review as both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 have an enormous range of features. There are definitely pros and cons for both of these espresso machines. You may also find specific advantages to one Jura that influence your overall buying decision.
So, let’s get started:
Jura Z8 vs Z10: At A Glance
The first difference you will notice between the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 is their exterior design. While both look as luxurious as each other, I personally think that the Jura Z10 has a sleeker look than the Jura Z8.
As you read through this comparison, you will notice specific advantages that the new Jura Z10 has over the current Jura Z8. You will also notice some similarities between the two machines such as their sizing and dimensions.
In short summary, it’s obvious that the new Jura Z10 is going to be more luxurious than the Jura Z8. However, I do recommend reading through both the machine’s pros, cons, and features to see which one is best suited for you:
Jura Z8 Overview
The Jura Z8 is considered to be the standard for people who want a luxurious home espresso machine. It’s known for its one-touch Americano function that uses a specific extraction process to bring a full-bodied Americano using the right combination of water and coffee. It has a wide range of specialty drinks too and has a fully integrated 4.3” touchscreen display just like the Jura Z10.
Pros
Less expensive than the Jura Z10: Although both these espresso machines are on the pricier end, the Jura Z8 is almost $1000 less expensive than the Jura Z10. This is a huge amount of savings for someone who is considering their budget.
Has the same screen display as the Jura Z10: The Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 are one of the few Jura espresso machines to have a 4.3-inch touchscreen display. I find this a lot more intuitive to use compared to the Jura E8’s TFT display with buttons for programmability and beverage selection.
One-touch Americano function: The Jura Z8 is well known for its one-touch Americano function that uses a special method to brew an Americano. This method uses a specific extraction process to combine water and coffee together in a way that the Americano will have a full-bodied taste without leaving that bitter aftertaste.
High quality coffee compared to other Jura’s: The Jura Z8 is still an amazing espresso machine and is built for providing high-quality coffee. With its Fine Foam Technology and Pulse Extraction Process, it is well equipped for brewing cafe-styled beverages.
Cons
Lacks new technology: Don’t get me wrong, the Jura Z8 comes with very smart technology including its multi-level AromaG3 Grinder, one-touch Americano function, and more. However, when you compare it to the Jura Z10 it lacks technology including Cold Extraction Process, Intelligent Preheating, and the new Product Recognizing Grinder.
Fewer specialty drinks than the Jura Z10: The Jura Z8 has a range of 21 specialty drinks which is a wide range, however, the Jura Z10 has 11 more specialty drinks than the Jura Z8.
Jura Z10 Overview
The new Jura Z10 is argued to be the most luxurious espresso machine on the market having the most amount of specialty drinks out of any Jura espresso machine (including the Jura Giga 6). Whilst most of the new Jura models have the Multi-level AromaG3 Grinder, the Jura Z10 is equipped with the all-new Product Recognizing Grinder. This will automatically adjust the grind size for the selected beverage.
Pros
Has up to 32 specialty drinks: The new Jura Z10 currently has the largest range of specialty drinks out of any other Jura model. These specialty drinks include different types of beverages such as milk-based beverages, tea-based beverages, and even cold brew-based beverages.
Has the latest grinder technology out of any other Jura: The Jura Z10 is the first Jura model to come with the all-new Product Recognizing Grinder. This grinder is not only precise at coffee grinding but also adjusts its grind size based on the selected beverage.
Has many specific advantages over the Jura Z8: There are a few features that the Jura Z10 has that the Jura Z8 does not. This includes intelligent preheating, cold extraction process, automatic switch over from milk to milk foam, and wi-fi connection to the home network.
Caters for cold brew specialty drinks: The Jura Z10 comes with a unique feature called cold extraction process. This will allow brewing specifically for cold beverages which no other Jura has of now except for the Jura Z10. If you decide to purchase this machine, have a look at our best coffees for cold brew coffee.
Cons
More expensive than most Jura models: It would be wrong to say that the Jura Z10 is not a pricey espresso machine. If you are considering your budget, then the Jura Z8 would be better suited for you as this machine is around $1000 more expensive than the Jura Z8.
Has a slightly smaller water tank capacity than Jura Z8: Surprisingly, the Jura Z10 has a smaller water tank capacity than the Jura Z8 BUT not by much. It isn’t too much of a big deal as the Jura Z10 is only 1 ounce smaller in water capacity than the Jura Z8.
Jura Z8 vs Z10: Features Compared
Both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 have some great features. However, there are some key differences between the two that will influence your buying decision at the end of the day:
Grinder
Both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 have new grinder technology, however, they are not the same. The Jura Z8 comes with Jura’s previous yet still new Multi-Level AromaG3 Grinder whereas the Jura Z10 has the latest Product Recognizing Grinder (P.R.G) technology.
The Multi-Level AromaG3 Grinder grinds coffee beans more precisely and at finer levels compared to the normal AromaG3 Grinder. This means you’ll have better brewing quality for any type of beverage with the Jura Z8.
The Product Recognizing Grinder (P.R.G) can grind coffee as precisely as the Multi-Level AromaG3 Grinder but can also automatically adjust to an ideal grind size for a selected beverage. So if you are lazy and do not feel like programming your grinder size, the Jura Z10 will do all the heavy lifting for you.
Water Reservoir
The Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 both have large water tank capacities compared to other Jura models:
The Jura Z8 has a water tank capacity of 81.3 ounces which can brew up to 81 single espresso shots before needing a refill. On the other hand, the Jura Z10 has a water tank capacity of 80.3 ounces which can brew up to 80 single espresso shots before needing a refill.
Therefore, the Jura Z8 takes first place when it comes to water reservoir capacity. However, there really isn’t much of a difference between these machines’ water tank capacities so shouldn’t be of concern.
Other Features
Other features include thermoblock heating systems and interchangeable milk spouts:
The Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 have some differences in terms of overall features. But both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 come with Jura’s Pulse Extraction Process and Fine Foam technology which helps brew a perfect barista-style drink.
There are some specific advantages that the Jura Z10 has over the Jura Z8 including 3D brewing technology, intelligent preheating, cold extraction process, and automatic switch over from milk to milk foam.
However, both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 come with active bean monitoring to notify the user when it’s time to refill the bean hopper. They also both include its one-touch lungo function as well as its one-touch automatic function. These two functions allow these Jura machines to use specific functions for combing the perfect ratio of coffee and water for your americano.
